Forum: faqs Subject: converting NTSC to PAL

First of all, i LOVE this site. Now, my question: I'd like to burn DVDs to store my favourite films, but I live in Europe, so I need to convert NTSC mpgs to PAL format. Maybe After Effects can do the job? Then I'd like to import the files in iDVD, or DVD pro (I'm a Mac user), but I'm not sure if the format is correct, I couldn't find any specifications about the formats available. I usually download Mpeg 2 clips, they play well and smooth with vlc on my G4, but i'm not sure if they are ok for DVD mastering. Maybe I could open the file with QuickTime (with the right plug-in installed) and then export to DVD. Mmmm... I'm a little confused. Any help? Thank you very much, and sorry for my poor english

I have a PC and there are many apps available to convert pal and ntsc formatted files.

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8988 - I did a quick search or two on google and came up with this for the mac platform - hope it helps :)

If you've got access to Final Cut Pro, you could buy this plugin which is good - http://www.nattress.com. If not, you may as well burn the DVDs as NTSC - most PAL DVD players will play NTSC (unless they're very old).
